Youth Weekend Away 2025

We recently took 18 young people to Heatree Activity Centre on Dartmoor for a weekend away.

The weather was stunning and the young people got an immediate adrenaline hit on arrival with grass sledging in the sun!

Over the course of the weekend, there was plenty of time for enjoying the sunshine. We ate meals together outside, played capture the flag in the woods, and (best of all) played archery tag for 2 hours on Saturday morning. This was a highlight for our young people, who loved shooting foam-tipped arrows at each other, in a range of competitive games. Despite the heat, they participated with smiles and enthusiasm and they particularly enjoyed hitting the leaders!

As well as fun and games, there were 3 sessions over the course of the weekend. These comprised worship, a short talk and discussion in groups. Charlie shared with us about following God’s way and listening to His voice. During our final session, young people were asked to close their eyes for prayer. They were given the opportunity to say a prayer in their hearts, to ask for forgiveness and choose God’s plan for their lives.

What happened next, was only by God’s hand.

With eyes closed, 8 young people raised their hands to say they had prayed this prayer. They had said yes to God! I was astounded! We invited these 8 young people to come forward for prayer. Four of these young people are not from Christian families.

During the many chaotic moments of the weekend, I would not have believed that such a moment were possible. I really believe that this moment was the fruit of prayer. Thank you to each person who contended for these young people during our recent 24 hour prayer as well as over the course of the year. God heard us.

Let’s keep praying for our young people, and those 8 in particular who said YES, believing that “He who began a good work in [them] will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6).

If you’d be interested in serving on the youth crew either on Sunday’s or mid-week, please get in touch!
